Referee was unfair to Hearts of Oak - Thomas Abbey

Thomas Abbey Thomas Abbey

Thomas Abbey, captain of Accra Hearts of Oak has blamed Referee Prince Amoah for the outcome of their home game against Aduana Stars on Wednesday.

The Phobians came from behind on three occasions to share the points with Aduana Stars in a six goal thriller.

Speaking to the press after the game, Abbey said referee Prince Amoah's poor performance denied them victory against Aduana, saying that, his side had two glaring penalties but the centre man failed to point to the spot.

"We wanted to win the game today but we got only one point which we are not happy about.

"The referee was not fair to us, I have never complained about officiating but I think it was very poor today. We had two clear penalties which weren't awarded to us, we don't deserve this at our home grounds.

"I am not saying he should cheat but he should have been fair to us," Thomas Abbey said.

Hearts of Oak are four points adrift league leaders, Aduana Stars but Abbey believes it is mathematically surmountable for them to win their first league title after eight years and therefore they would fight till it's all over.
