Government is counting on the efficiency of Ghana’s ports by promoting export of manufactured produce as well as value added products through the ports.

A National Policy Summit to provide a platform for government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and to engage stakeholders in their operations has been launched in Accra.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo assured that government’s agenda for economic growth and job creation was underpinned by programme of rapid and aggressive industrialisation and value addition, especially in agro-processing and vibrant manufacturing.

Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyeremanteng said government will use policy as an instrument for change. The President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce said the private sector is fully prepared to take advantage of opportunities created by government to industrialise the country.

On the side-lines, concerns of enhancing the quality and standard of manufactured products that were exported through Ghana’s ports were raised.

The Food and Drugs Authority and the Ghana Standards Authority assured of significant improvement of both import and export products in the near future.
