Ghana Football Association spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie Daara says preparations are on course for the successful hosting of the inaugural WAFU Nations Cup.

For the first time, sixteen clubs will be competing in the sub-regional tournament which starts on 9 September.

The tournament will be played at the Cape Coast and Sekondi Stadiums.

''In terms of preparations to host the WAFU tournament, I will say we are through with 80-90 percent,'' Sannie revealed.

''Currently, its left with some few facilities including training pitches which will be sorted out as we are working on it.

''The ministry are on course though the country is not in glory times as far as finance is concerned.''

Ghana will play Gambia in the tournament opener in Sekondi.
