Be open and transparent in your dealings - Minister charges NPA Board

The Minister of Energy Hon. Boakye Agyarko has charged the newly constituted Board of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to ensure there is openness and transparency in all its dealings with stakeholders especially, consumers.

‘These are days when rumours, misinformation abound and have the tendency to foul and poison the world of goodwill in the sector. This is, therefore, going to require of you to operate with a certain level of openness and transparency that the industry or the subsector may not have seen before.

“It’s going to require your diligence, openness, transparency and your willingness to continually and constantly engage the consuming public,” Mr. Boakye Agyarko stated.

He further called on them to ensure there is security for fuel transported to various parts of the country.

Mr. Boakye Agyarko made the call on Monday when he inaugurated an eight member Board of National Petroleum Authority (NPA) chaired by Mr. Joe Addo Yobo at the Ministry of Energy.

The other members of the Board are Acting CEO of NPA, Mr. Alhassan Tampuli Sulemana; Mr Kwame Boafo Akuffo, Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankawoso (I), Mr. Fuseini Iddrisu, Mr Simeon Tawiah, Mr. George Mensah Okley and Hon.Ama Pomaa Boateng.

The Sector Minister reminded the Board that the petrochemical is wrought with changes both globally and at home in terms of products specifications, equipment design and pricing hence required strong leadership to steer the sector in a clear and forceful direction.

He indicated that the President Akufo-Addo appointed them because he is confident they have the ability to deliver on his expectation, stressing that the Ministry, as well as the nation, is counting on them to deliver.

Hon Boakye Agyarko also explained that the Ministry’s decision to put on hold the Cylinder Recirculation Model policy saying “ we want to allow for further consultations so that the concerns of all stakeholders particularly, gas tanker drivers would be addressed.”

The new Board chairman Mr Joe Addo Yobo who expressed gratitude to President Nana Akufo-Addo pledged their commitment to ensure that only quality fuel products are imported and sold to consumers.
