A Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has slammed Speaker of Parliament Prof. Mike Oquaye describing him as a dishonest politician and historian.

He further described the man of God and Baptist, as a veritable disgrace to intellectualism and Christianity.

Speaking to Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr. Anyidoho said, Prof. Oquaye is an academic fraudster adding that people should stop reading his books.

''Prof. Oquaye is an academic fraudster. He is trying to perpetrate academic fraud on us. And this tells you that we should be careful the kind of thing that we read from Mike Oquaye's books. I am telling you the truth.''

He said people like Mike Oquaye has informed the decision of the NDC, to set up the political school so that when people like him try to distort the history of Ghana, ‘’we can write and correct the distortion.’’

The outspoken politician said ‘’when a professor of history and political science and a Speaker of Parliament and a Baptist Minister, decides to turn the history of this country upside down and put it on his head, it is important that we call him to order. We do not want to use harsh words but if that is the only option, we have to do it. This attempt of trying to create the impression that JB Danquah is the doyen of Ghana politics and that Nkrumah was not the founder of Ghana,'' is an academic fraud.

The history of Ghana he said is clear and that the UGCC was a defunct party. He took his gun on Paul Otchere, who has maintained that Nkrumah never won an election in Ghana but a plebiscite adding, ‘’if he [Paul Adom Otchere] has been given money to pursue that course, he should be quite and spend the money quietly.

He said if the Speaker wants to super impose JB Danquah on us as the founder of Ghana, that cannot be possible because he [JB Danquah] is not the founder.

He further quizzed the whereabouts of those founders who are being credited for the Independence of Ghana when Kwame Kwame Nkrumah struggled for the country.

‘’For emphasis, I repeat that there is no way the likes of Akufo-Addo and Papa Ajasco can make J.B.Danquah more important than the great Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. No attempt by the likes of Papa Ajasco to destroy the solid legacy of Kwame Nkrumah, can change the history of Ghana. It was Kwame Nkrumah who led the struggle and fought for the Independence of Ghana, and NOBODY can destroy that fact of history.’’

He added: ‘’We shall not allow the useless call by Akufo-Addo for us to “have a conversation about the real history of Ghana”, to be used to bastardize the history of the nation in an attempt to satisfy the whims and caprices of a small Akyem family that is neck-deep in tribal bigotry and ethnic supremacist thinking.’’
