The government of Ghana has said it will work with any candidate who will win the Kenya polls emphasising that, the country has no interest in any of the individuals contesting.

“We wish to make it clear that the Government of Ghana has no interest whatsoever in who emerges winner in Tuesday’s polls,” a statement from Information Minister Mustapha Abdul-Hamid said on Tuesday, August 8, 2017.

The statement emphasised that: “The decision as to who leads Kenya for the next five years as President remains sole preserve of the Kenyan people”.

“Ghana enjoys strong diplomatic relations with Kenya and will continuously work to deepen this, as well as explore other areas of cooperation between the two countries to the mutual benefit of the two people irrespective of the government at the whelm of affairs,” the statement added.

The government of Ghana further prayed for “a successful and credible election” and expressed confidence that “the winning candidate at the end of the process will receive the unalloyed support of all” adding that is “how Kenya can strengthen her democracy and the peace and stability of the nation.”
