Retired FIFA referee Joseph Wellington has expressed his disappointment at the performance of Dally Gabga in Sunday's Super between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.

The much anticipated clash was marred with controversy at the dying embers as referee Dally Gagba awarded Asante Kotoko a questionable penalty for the Porcupine Warriors to earn a point.

Hearts dominated the Porcupine Warriors for large part of the encounter and deservedly went ahead in the 66th minute through striker Kwame Kizito from close range but Kotoko leveled the scores with ten minutes to end the game after they were awarded a controversial penalty, which was neatly put away by striker Saddick Adams.

Speaking to Happy FM's Anopa Bosuo Sports, retired referee Joseph Wellington was not impressed with the performance of the Oda-based referee in the encounter.

"Referee Gagba wasn't in his best shape after the first three minutes and his demeanour throughout the game was not on point. I have known him for along time and per his performances in the season, I think he struggled in the match," Wellington said.

"With the penalty call, I didn't see it clearly and I didn't have the benefit of replay but we'll review his performance before coming out with a decision."
