Rift between Nyantakyi and Afriyie not healthy for Ghana football - Yamin

Former Ghana Deputy Sports Minister Joseph Yamin says he is surprised about the rift between President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi and his vice George Afriyie, which according to him “isn’t good for Ghana’s football”.

There has been rumors in the media landscape which have suggested an unhealthy rivalry between the two heavyweights which is retrogressing Ghana’s football.

“George Afriyie and Kwesi Nyantakyi had the best relationship during my tenure at the Sports Ministry, that is why am very surprised with brawl between the two which rather
unfortunate.,” Yamin told Space FM.

“I was with them when Ghana travelled to Japan as well as the qualifying series for the 2014 World Club and you feel the high level of cordiality between them,” Yamin told Space FM.

“I don’t really know the cause of the division and I wouldn’t be able to assume to any evidence to substantiate this unravelling feud but I think is not healthy for Ghana’s football, ” Yamin said

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, headed by Alex Agyegum, is set to summon the duo to answer questions relating to the alleged impasse.
