The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku, has stated that the use of technology in Ghana’s tourism industry will be a major factor for the sector to succeed.

According to her, there is no way one can live without technology so making use of it in the tourism sector will be a boost for the industry.

“Technology is now part and parcel of our sector. We can’t do without it but this is something tailor made for our industry,” she said.

The Minister made these comments at the official launch of Handy Smartphone at the Accra City Hotel on Wednesday, July 26.

Handy is an innovative mobile travel solution that combines the functionality of a personal Smartphone and hotel services into one fully integrated device.

Each Handy Smartphone is customised for the hotel and provides travellers with one free unlimited internet connectivity, local and international calls, as well as an interactive city guide and one-click access to the hotel’s concierge and amenities.

Catherine Afeku further commended the pioneers for bringing Handy to Ghana and urged hoteliers to take advantage of the tool to ease the troubles their guest face during trips by making their travel experience a whole lot easier and fun especially when visiting a place for the first time.
