The Ghana Water Company Limited has begun work to replace a 12” diameter steel pipeline located in the dual carriage road near the National Theater.

The said steel pipeline, according to company officials, is weak and corroded.

Technical workers of the utility company were seen with some of their heavy equipment around 22:00 GMT, Friday, cutting the road to have access to the defective pipeline.

Management of the GWCL in a statement signed by its Head of Communications, Stanley Martey, said replacement of the said weak and corroded pipeline “will be completed on or before Sunday July 16, 2017” and therefore urged commuters to use alternative routes to their destination.

According to the company, areas to be affected by the ongoing works include Ministries area, Makola, parts of Ridge, Parliament House, Accra Sports Stadium, Osu Kuku Hill and surrounding areas.
