Koforidua traders make good sales in first half of year

Majority of traders in the Koforidua Central Business Area, say their businesses are doing well.

They claimed that they made good sales during the first half of the year than they did during last year, same period.
This came out in a market survey conducted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) – the nation’s wire service, in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital.
Ms. Sonia Naa Oku, a boutique attendant, said things had been pretty good. She would however not give any figures.

She added that she was confident that it was going to get even better during the second half of the year.

Bright Lartey, a shop owner, told a similar story, indicating that he saw appreciable increase in sales compared to last year performance.
This, he attributed, to slight decreases in the price of some items he had been selling.

Charles Marfo Agyeman, who deals in foodstuffs, share the same view and said sales picked up during the period.

He was upbeat that the coming months would be even more exciting.
Forster Agbobadah, a stationery dealer, said he had good sales in the first two months - January and February, but things had since slowed. He, however, expressed optimism that it sales would pick up in August, the beginning of the academic year.

He told the GNA that the reduction of taxes on imported goods, could lead to price reduction.
Joshua Adu-Mensah, a marketer, complained of price increases of some goods by some suppliers and said that could affect retail prices and result in slow sales.
