BoG Boss urges MTN-Government partnership to deepen digital service

Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison has urged Ghana’s leading Telecommunication provider, MTN to partner government to improve digital services in the country.

"The National Information Technology Agency is one of the government agencies to which MTN can extend its infrastructure, to enable more communities have access to internet services", Dr. Addison noted, adding that MTN is adequately resourced to undertake these projects.

“There are some identified areas that MTN can partner the government on. Example is the National Information Technology Agency which is one of the key agencies MTN can expand so that many more communities can have access to data” Dr. Addison remarked

“However, it’s important to know that MTN has already proven to be a strategic partner to the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication which helps the nation to provide resources to improve basic access to telephony, internet service, multimedia and broad band to all services.” He added

Dr. Ernest Addison was speaking at an event dubbed ‘A night with MTN Group Board’ held at the MTN head office in Accra on the July 7, 2017.

Ademofa Onafowokan; Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Inspector General of Police; Mr. Asante-Apeatu, Ministers of State among others were present at the event.
