Bawumia hails role of private sector in job creation

The Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has lauded the role of the private sector in creating jobs observing that economic empowerment are created by individuals through vision.

Mr Samuel Atta Akyea, Minister of Works and Housing who made the remarks on behalf of the Vice President said government can only do its part by creating enabling environment for the private sector to thrive.

He was speaking at a ceremony to inaugurate a concrete products factory at Krapa in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality of Ashanti Region.

The Erduk Concrete Product factory under the Erduk Group of Companies is a one-stop-outlet for the building construction, civil engineering, real estate, haulage, mining services, sale of concrete products such as kerbs, paving blocks, culverts and Sandcrete blocks including solid and hollow blocks of all sizes.

The vice president disclosed the housing sector was currently faced with a housing deficit of 1.7 million units as such an investment targeted to wipe out such deficit was great news to Government.

We recall that the Erduk Company started operation as a sole proprietorship and has expanded with this huge investment employing over 160 local artisans. As Government we see this company as a partner and will do our best to ensure it thrives to augment our one district one factory initiative.

He seized the occasion to urge Ghanaian contractors and businesses to develop a spirit of excellence in the execution of contracts in order to rock shoulders with foreign counterparts to secure major contracts

The event brought together top hierarchy of stakeholders including traditional rulers, Ministers of State, District and Municipal Chief Executives in the Ashanti Region, the clergy.

Notable among them was Baffour Asare Owusu Amankwatia VI, Bantamahene, who represented the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Mr.Simon Osei Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister,Serwaa Denkyi, Ejisu Juabeng MCE and a high powered delegation from the church of Pentecost led by the Chairman, Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah.

Also present was a delegation from Ghacem led by the Commercial Director, Nana Phillip Archer and the Board of Directors of Erduk Group of companies led by the Chairman, Lawyer Kwame Owusu Sekyere

Chief Executive Officer of Erduk Group of Companies, Mr. Eric Duku in his address said the company was born out of a commitment to fulfill the will of God by serving humanity as such it will continue to initiate projects and activities to boost the construction industry.

Mr. Duku acknowledged the support of all stakeholders such as Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and assured the company will be inspired to do more to create employment opportunity for the youth within the area and beyond

Baffour Asare Owusu Amankwatia VI, Bantamahene, who represented the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, said the achievement of Mr. Duku should inspire other young people to take bold business decisions to create employment opportunities not only for themselves, but others. He urged the people and Ashanti and beyond to support the company by patronizing its products
