Rival kingmakers at Okwahu-Abene, in the Eastern Region on Saturday morning installed a rival chief to Professor Agyeman Badu-Akosa, a renowned pathologist and former Director General of Ghana Health Service (GHS).

The installation of Professor Akosa as Okwahuhene under the stool name Nana Mampong Agyei II almost a month ago, sparked some controversy in the area as some Chiefs and heads of families in the Kwahu Traditional Area led by the Acting Paramount chief of Kwahuman Nana Asiedu Agyemang III indicating that his enstoolmet was illegal and uncustomary, hence cannot be accepted.

Earlier this week in commemoration of his 40th day of enstoolment, he attacked the security agencies over their failure to protect lives and property in Abene following his enstoolment that was characterized by violence.

In a press statement signed by himself, he bemoaned how the security services of the country have failed to bring sanity, law and order in the face of impunity and vigilantism aided by some known chiefs close to Abene and asking them not to permit a rival faction to go ahead with a planned installation.

But on Saturday morning, Eugene Kwasi Asante Boadi was installed as the legitimate Okwahuhene under the stool name Daseebre Akmouah Agyepong II.

The new chief, who is an investment banker, holds an MA in Finance and Investment Banking from Lincoln University California U S A. BSc Administration Accounting Option from University of Ghana and member of the Association of Charted Accountants ACCA-U K and a Member of Project Management Professional PM P Awaiting Certification.

Meanwhile, tension has started enveloping the area over the latest installation.
