$1m per constituency to hit accounts first week in August - Minister

The one million dollars per constituency will hit the accounts of all the 275 constituencies in the first week of August 2017, Hon Hawa Koomson, Minister for Special Development Initiatives has hinted.

She gave the hint in an interview with Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio. According to the Minister, 70 percent of the one million dollars for each constituency, will be spent on government’s priority projects such as the “One district-one factory, one village one dam, warehouses for planting for food and jobs among others.

The remaining 30 percent will be used for the priority constituency needs, which will be determined by a 10-member team approved by Cabinet, she explained.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2016 campaign, announced that an NPP government will offer one million dollars every year to the various constituencies for infrastructural developments.

The programme will be segmented into three as the Northern Development Authority, Middle Belt Development Authority and the Coastal Development Authority.

These authorities, will be coordinated by the Presidency to avoid financial malfeasance.
