Government lauded for posthumous honours conferred on Major Mahama

President Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo

A governance expert, Dr Eric Oduro Osae, has lauded President Akufo Addo's decision to honour the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama posthumously.

He said the gesture will instill a sense of patriotism and nationalism in the public sector.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Dr Oduro Osae said the honour will motivate those in public service to sacrifice for the country.

Meanwhile, a Senior Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Gyampo has also commended government for the package announced for the late Major Maxwell Mahama.

However, he said the seed money of GH¢ 500,000 set aside for the upkeep of his wife and children may not be enough.

He also suggested that the monument that is to be erected in his honour should not only be in Accra but also at Denkyira Obuasi where he was killed.

Professor Gyampo believes that this will serve as a constant reminder to them never to engage in such a lawless conduct again.
