The Minister of State in charge of Public Procurement, Hon. Adwoa Safo has directed all MMDA’s and MDAs to submit copies of all contracts to her office for review.

The directive affects only contracts that are being considered by MMDA’s and MDAs for abrogation.

According to the Minister the move is to ensure the avoidance of any unnecessary legal battles that may arise as a result of the abrogation.

“The Minister has no doubt about the competence of heads of entities to make a judgement on what a good contract is from a bad one, however, she believes it is always important to seek legal and expert advice before a decision to abrogate a contract is taken” a press statement said.

The Minister also in the press statement requested for all queries concerning the termination of any contract should be directed to her office for recommendations and advice.

The NPP government ahead of the 2016 election raised lots of red flags concerning contracts that had been signed by the erstwhile administration insisting in some cases that they didn’t have value for money.
