Army Commander visits troops in Liberia

Accra, March 10, GNA - Major-General C. B. Yaache, Army Commander has led a six-man delegation to pay a working visit to Ghanaian troops operating under the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) and participated in the Ghana Medal parade held in Monrovia.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Directorate, General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces. Maj-Gen. Yaache was briefed on the situation in Liberia and on the operations in the Ghana Company's (Ghanacoy) area of responsibility. He noted the challenges facing the Ghanacoy and pledged that the Command would do its best to resolve the logistics and administrative problems and told the troops that orders had been placed for the necessary logistics for them.

Maj-Gen Yaache commended the troops for the good work they had been doing, and congratulated them for earning United Nations medals. He urged the troops not to be complacent, but to be vigilant at all times since one could not say the situation in Liberia was stable.
