The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba, is urging the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to relieve its Northern Regional Chairman, Bugri Naabu, of his position following his act of lawlessness that has brought shame to the party.

According to her, it would be in the best interest of the party not to allow Bugri Naabu whom she dsecribed as a bully to continue to occupy such high office, as his conduct is unbecoming of a leader and causing problems for the NPP.

The outspoken Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP on Friday lost his temper and disrupted a meeting that was underway led by the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba.

The controversial chairman in the company of some unruly women affiliated to the NPP stormed the meeting vandalizing properties in protest to what he described as the Minister’s disregard for his high office claiming she did not seek his consent before convening her meeting.

Mr. Naabu who described the meeting as “illegal” noted that the Gender Minister has no right to come to the region to organize a meeting without first informing the regional executives, saying that even the president would not throw his weight about in such manner.

“I have told the Minister point blank what she did was wrong. It is unconstitutional and therefore her meeting is illegal,” he declared to the admiration of the women accompanying him.

Mr. Naabu according to reports personally participated in the condemnable action throwing water bottles and ordering Ms Djaba to immediately stop the “illegal meeting,” which he suspected was intended to plot a scheme to undermine President Akufo-Addo’s nominee to head the school feeding program in the region.

But Madam Djaba has vowed not to allow the matter to lie as she has indicated she’ll make a formal complaint in writing to the party when she returns from the Northern part of the country.

“It will not be right for me as the Women’s Organizer, Gender Activists and the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to be treated with such contempt by especially a Minister who ought to know better. I’m extremely disappointed in Bugri’s behaviour and ashamed on behalf of the party. This is not the animal kingdom, not all the regional chairmen are behaving like this, it’s just Bugri. But he cannot bring it to my doorstep because I fight for the rights of all women. He’s been bullying people and bulldozing his way, all Bugri thinks about is himself.”
