Tema Port cocaine saga: Arrest and investigate those involved - Prof. Boateng

An International Relations expert, Prof. Kwame Agyenim Boateng has posited that, the alleged 500 kilogrammes of cocaine worth about $30 million dollars which reportedly disappeared from the Tema Port, has tainted our image as a country.

The Editor of the Finder Newspaper, Elvis Darko, reported some weeks ago that, the 500 kilogrammes of cocaine had gone missing.

However, the Sector Commander of the Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), at the Tema Port, Confidence Nyadzi, dismissed the claims that 500 kilogrammes of cocaine worth about $30 million dollars had disappeared from the Port.

Meanwhile, Mr. Darko is still insisting that the said cocaine has gone missing.

Commenting on the development, Prof. Boateng called on government to make heads roll considering the level of international embarrassment it has brought upon us.

He also advised government to employ competent and dedicated individuals to man our ports to prevent such incidents.

Prof. Agyenim Boateng said, ''I am calling for a presidential enquiry into the missing cocaine saga. We should not sweep this case under the carpet. It is an embarrassment for the country. The cocaine cannot disappear at the Port; it does not have wings to fly, it is not a bird.We should treat this case with all the seriousness it deserves. All those involved and on duty at that time should be investigated. The BNI should take up this case and investigate all those involved,'' he added.
