Nkoranza (B/A) March 7, GNA - John Bobo, the 26-year-old driver from Sekodumase in Ashanti who was shot dead by a gang of armed robbers on the Nkoranza-Ejura road last Sunday was playing the role of a "Good Samaritan" in saving the life of a pregnant woman in labour.

He met his untimely death while returning home after conveying the woman who had been referred from the Sekodumase Health Centre to St Theresa's Hospital at Nkoranza.

Nana Kwadwo Asare, 70, owner of the Mitshibushi Urvan vehicle that the late Bobo drove told the police at Nkoranza that the deceased had closed from work on that day and was resting at home when a friend approached him to assist to convey a pregnant woman to the Saint Theresa's Hospital.

Nana Asare said the late Bobo agreed to assist and on his return from Nkoranza with the friend and other attendants on board the armed robbers stopped the vehicle and ordered Bobo to come down but he refused.

One of the robbers smashed the windscreen of the vehicle with a stick and when Bobo reversed the vehicle the robber shot at him though the front door and he died instantly, he further told the police. Meanwhile Miss Rebecca Birago, the expectant mother has safely delivered and taken back home at Sekodumase while the late Bobo has since been buried in the same town.

Last Sunday armed robbers used logs to block the main Nkoranza-Ejura road in Brong Ahafo and robbed passengers on board a bus of their monies and other valuables.
