New NSA boss Robert Sarfo New NSA boss Robert Sarfo

Newly appointed National Sports Authority Director General, Robert Sarfo Mensah, popularly known as ‘Boobba’ has expressed his happiness for being handed the job, noting that he would work hard to fix problems there.

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed the former Asunafo North MP on Tuesday.

He replaced Joe Kpenge who was appointed in 2013 by the previous government.

The 47 year old who holds a post Graduate certificate in Project Management and Corporate Leadership is expected to make use of his experience to fix problems confronting the National Sports Authority.

Sarfo Mensah tells Sunyani-base Space FM that he has the requisite technique and ability to carry out his duties in order to be successful.

He called on the media and well wishers to rally behind him as he takes up the new challenge.

‘’We have all worked hard for the party to return to power and I must admit that I’m very happy for getting this post,’’ he opined on Space FM.

‘’I have been involved in so many jobs and being a member of parliament is one of the most difficult jobs but by God’s grace and the people in Brong Ahafo I hold the forth for 12 years at Asunafo North. I think the same God will help to perform creditably as the head of the NSA.

‘’I believe with the help of the minister, the media and those who matters we will do exceedingly well. I have the ability and capability and with my enormous knowledge I think everything we will succeed.

The government has planned to start renovation works at the Accra and Kumasi Sports stadia in June, and Sarfo Mensah says he would together with the Sports Minister sit down with the affected clubs in order discuss the way forward.

‘’Renovating the various stadia is a challenge that we have to confront. Everyone knows it’s important, especially when we are about to host the Women African Cup of Nations tournament. We will meet Hearts and all the teams that will be affected.

If we finish with the renovation works, it will help Hearts Of Oak. When you visit the facility you will see that all the metals have rusted, so it’s a matter of meeting them.

‘’We should all work hard to ensure everything moves on well. My doors are always opened to the media and everyone,’’ he added.
