The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that Ghanaians are witnessing terrorism and thuggery sowed by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo whilst in opposition.

The NDC accused the President of condoning atrocities perpetuated by vigilante groups of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the years.

The NDC further claimed the President benefited from the activities of these vigilante groups whilst in opposition saying he used them to harass his ‘enemies’ within his party in 2013 to 2016 in return for ‘juicy’ appointments.

‘Everything that has happened since President Akufo-Addo came to power vindicates our position. Sadly, Nana Addo sowed this wind of thuggery and terrorism in opposition and Ghana is now reaping the whirlwind,’ the NDC claimed.

It wondered why members of the NPP go on the defensive whenever confronted with nefarious activities by Delta Force, Invincible Forces and Kandahar Boys.

Addressing Journalists in Accra on Tuesday, the Deputy Minority Leader James Klutse Avedzi bemoaned the brutalities on innocent Ghanaians by these vigilante groups.

According to him, he was not surprised to see these assaults by the vigilante groups who have been receiving support of gurus of the NPP.

‘The deaths, injuries and losses incurred by members of that party are well documented, it had been believed by many that these dastardly acts will cease once the NPP won power and assumed control of the state security apparatus,’ he pointed out.

‘Since coming into office on January 7, the Akufo-Addo government has given meaning to the saying that ‘leopard doesn’t change its spots’. The NPP has been importing wholesale into government government, the same acts of violence and lawlessness that marked their time in opposition,’ he said.

He warned the NPP to be mindful of their actions as the electorates are watching.
