Public Relations Officer Accra Hearts of Oak Opare Addo has indicated the team is still a work in progress but believes they can build a winsome team that will challenge for the Ghana Premier League title.

Accra Hearts of Oak last won the league in 2008/09 and has struggled over the years to replicate the form that saw them conquer Africa in the early 2000’s.

The club have undergone a lot of restructuring including appoint a new manager before the start of the season.

Accra Hearts of Oak lie fifth in the Ghana Premier league after back to back victories against Bechem United and Ashantigold.

“We have played eleven games and there are 19 more games to go. We are still working to attain the level where we will have an excellent team,” Opare told Happy FM.

“We are not there yet, so we are taking it match after match and we believe when we continue to pick three points match after match, at the end of the season we will have enough points and everybody will get to know we are the best team. So, we are doing everything possible to make sure our team is as consistent as possible so we challenge for the title,” he said.

Hearts of Oak will next play debutants Elmina Sharks at the Accra Sports Stadium in week 12 of the Ghana Premier League.
