Konkomba-Dagomba feud needless - Fuseini

All politicians from across the political divide who hail from the Northern Region should come together and interact with the Konkombas and Dagombas who live at Agbogbloshie, a suburb of Accra, that violence is not the solution to their problems, ABA Fuseini, Member of Parliament for Nalerigu and former Northern Regional Minister, has said.

According to him, the problem that caused the Tuesday clashes between the two ethnic groups is runs deep and requires the efforts of all, irrespective of political affiliation, to address.

His comments follow a bloody clash that occurred between teh two ethnic groups that led to two deaths and several injuries within the Agbogbloshie market in Accra on Tuesday, 11 April.

Speaking in interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom, on Accra100.5FM on Wednesday April 12, Mr Fuseini noted: “This calls for very deep-seated sober thinking to come up with a strategy for harmonising the various ethnic groups. What I want to suggest is that it should be possible for people from Northern extraction, opinion leaders, chiefs, politicians across the political divide to put aside the political tag, and come together to serve as role models who can project ideas and bring the people together.

“The last thing that happened was purely a partisan matter, some other people who thought they had not been served well in the past also took the laws in their hands and decided to forcefully eject others out of the market.

“I want to suggest that those of us who are politicians need to come together and go to the market and let them understand that at the end of the day you are all people from one area.”
