Tenure Of VRA IMC Ends

The tenure of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) put in place four months ago to run the affairs of the Volta River Authority (VRA) ? following the voluntary resignation of Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby, former Chief Executive and his immediate Deputy, Mr. Joseph Amissah-Arthur-has ended.

A letter to this effect written and signed by Mr. D.K. Osei, Secretary to President J.A. Kufour read in part, ?I am directed by His Excellency the President to extend his deepest appreciation to you for accepting to serve as a member of the Interim Management Committee of the VRA for a four-month period. I write to formally notify you of the end of the mandate of the Interim Management Committee?.

The letter, which was dated February 6, 2004, was addressed to Mr. Kweku Andoh Awotwi, Acting Chief Executive of the Authority, and copies sent to Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, Minister for Energy and the Chief of Staff, Castle. President Kufour conveyed his sincere gratitude to the IMC for its ?diligent service to the VRA and the nation at large?. He wished them all the very best in their future endeavours.

Readers will recall that continuous agitations against Dr. Wereko-Brobby by a section of the workers compelled him to resign his post to enable investigations to be conducted into allegations brought against him.

Wereko-Brobbey (fondly called ?Tarzan?) tendered his resignation letter to President John Agyekum Kufour on September 19, 2003.
