Ghana Premier League has potential – Deputy Sports Minister-designate

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister-designate Pius Hadzide has lavished praise on the Ghana Premier League, branding it as having the “potential” to be great.

Domestic football has come under heavy criticism, with critics branding it as non-entertaining and unattractive to potential sponsors.

Mr Hadzide, speaking to the media after Sunday’s league match between Kotoko and Hearts, said he was satisfied with what he saw and was quick to predict a bright future for the league if the right structures were put in place.

“Both teams performed creditably well, but there can always be room for improvement. Both teams did very well in relation to the talents on the field. Our league has enormous potential,” he said.

“What we need to do is package and rebrand it to make it a little more attractive and once we achieve that, we don't have a problem with marketing the brand."
