Dayspring Montessori International wins National Core Subjects Quiz

Dayspring Montessori International School won the annual National Core Subjects Quiz held at the Mamprobi Evangelical Presbyterian Church Basic School, Mamprobi.

More than 80 schools from 3 constituencies namely, Odododiodoo, Ablekuma South and Ablekuma West constituencies participated in the quiz organized by Verbal Transformers of PALFoundation Ghana.

There were four rounds : English Language for round 1, Social studies for round 2, General science for round 3 and Mathematics for round 4 which presented the students with the problem of the day session. Twenty schools qualified to next phase of the competition.

In the Preliminary stage 10 out of 20 schools qualified for the quarter finals stage, 5 schools later progressed to the Semis.

Among the 5 schools, two contested the first match after which one qualified, the other 3 battled for the second match after which the best two qualified for the next stage.


Dansoman based Dayspring Montessori international School, Cambridge Preparatory and JHS located at Korle-Gonno and Favour Complex school located at Agege competed in the final.

Favour Complex School came 3rd with 44 points whilst Cambridge Preparatory and JHS annexed the 2nd position with 50.5 points and Dayspring Montessori International School emerged as the winners for the 2017 edition of the National Core Subjects Quiz with 54 points.

The dignitaries who graced the annual occasion included the Highly Esteemed Quiz Mistress of the National Science and Math Quiz Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Mr Stephen Yao Heymann and Mr. John Kwame Amponay, Headmaster of Mamprobi Evangelical Presbyterian Basic School and Former Head of Examinations for Greater Accra Region ,Ghana Education Service.
