The chairman of the Premier League Board (PLB), Ashford Tettey Oku, has blamed management of clubs for their inability to maintain pitches in shape for matches.

Mr Tettey Oku explained that his outfit should not be blamed for the various clubs poor maintenance of pitches since they are not responsible for that.

He said most of the clubs were provided with a temporal licence to play at their grounds by the Club Licencing Board and could be taken from them if things don't improve.

Many clubs in the top flight have blamed poor pitches on their failure to win matches with the recent complaint being Asante Kotoko after their 1-1 stalemate with Bolga All Stars at the Tamale Utrecht Academy Park.

In an interview with Footballghana, Mr Tettey Oku said "We are not to blame for the poor maintainance of pitches by clubs in the country".

"This is because it is the duty of the clubs to cater for their pitches and most of them were given temporal licences to play and can be vacated once they fail to maintain them," he added.

The PLB boss urged all participating clubs in the league make sure they maintain their pitches in good shape as the season enters an intense stage.
