Kumasi, Feb. 15, GNA - The Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) on Saturday opened its new shop at Adum, the hub of economic activities in Kumasi with a renewed call on Ghanaians to patronise made-in-Ghana goods.
Lady Julia Osei Tutu, wife of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who inaugurated the shop and reiterated that the government's declaration of a "Golden Age of Business" could be given the needed impetus only when the public patronised goods made in the country. She urged the management of the PMMC not to limit its sales to only a few places but to expand its operations throughout the country to enhance its operations.
Lady Julia was of the conviction that with the creation of the Boankra Inland Port, there was bound to be an influx of traders from the West Africa sub-region to the country to do business and urged the company to take advantage of the opportunity to market its products.
"As a nation's flag bearer when it comes to jewels, I urge the management of the PMMC to be more innovative, dedicated and customer conscious in ensuring that our products meet international standards."
Mr Peter Boakye, Managing Director of PMMC, said the new shop was located at Adum to help the public have easy access to it.
He said the company was expanding its jewellery operations to raise the country's foreign exchange earnings.
