Ghanaians happy with unchanged petroleum prices

Accra, Feb 5, GNA - A cross section of the public GNA interviewed on Thursday expressed satisfaction and relief that there were no increases in the prices of petroleum products.

Mr Issaka Salisu, a Spare Parts Dealer at Abbosey Okai in Accra, said: "This year's budget has no fuel price increment and that is a great relief to me."

He said since fuel price increment affected everything, Ghanaians were happy that there was no increase, "which means that there would be no rise in the prices of food."

Nana Kweku Anokye II Omanhene of Adjaade Traditional Area in the Brong Ahafo Region, who also sells spare parts, expressed satisfaction saying: "We welcome the idea that government would support enterprises that go into commercial production of cocoa by-products."

He also welcomed the five-year tax holiday relief for companies investing in the production of cocoa by-product, adding: "Our farmers would be gingered up to work hard and produce more cocoa to have enough money to fend for their families."

Madam Abena Nketia, Housewife, said the Government's decision to sell low-cost houses to their occupiers was a wonderful idea.
