Wa All Stars captain Hafiz Adams has set sights on reaching the group stage of the 2017 Caf Champions League following the team’s triumph in the Ghana Premier League last season.

For the first time in the club's history, they will be participating in the continent's biggest club competition, when they welcome Libyan giants Al Ahli Tripoli to the Tamale Sports Stadium in the first leg of the preliminary round on Sunday.

The 24-year-old is upbeat over their chances of going past their opponents. The return fixture will take place a week later in Tripoli.

"Our main target in the Caf Champions League is to qualify to the group stages since it is our maiden appearance," he told Graphic Sports.

"We are not just going to participate to add to the numbers but to make an impact. We are prepared for the task ahead and will surely eliminate Al Ahli Tripoli to prove a point," he added.

In other related story, FA Cup winners Bechem United will host Algerian side MC Algiers at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Caf Confederations preliminary round first leg also on Sunday
