President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has beaten off competition from 2015 frontrunner Kofi Annan to emerge as the Most Influential Public Figure on Social Media in Ghana for 2016, data from the Ghana Social Media Rankings spearheaded by Avance Media, CliQAfrica, and Dream Ambassadors Foundation GH have shown.
In the year under review, President Akufo-Addo also gained the highest number of new followers (935,145) among his competitors, coupled with the highest number of engagements on both Facebook and Twitter.
His closest contender, former president John Dramani Mahama, who ranked higher in 2015, also gained new followers in 2016 numbering 713,788 while the former UN Secretary-General trailed with 359,951 new followers.

The ranking was based on the GSMR Score. It was analysed from their social media following, growth difference, engagements, post reaches, and mentions.
