The Minister of Communications, Edward Omane Boamah, has revealed that 400,000 direct and indirect jobs have been created by the government with 300,000 more yet to be created.

In an interview on Yen Sempa on Onua FM on Tuesday, Dr Omane Boamah said already 23,411 nurses have been employed.

Quoting the World Bank, the Minister admitted that Ghana has infrastructure deficit of $1 billion every year, yet the President is committed to ensuring the reduction of infrastructure deficit and unemployment.

According to him, even the establishment of the new ICT center will employ over 12,000 people, declaring that government is using the taxes to work.

He accepted that there is more room for improvement, but government would not employ more than the expected ceiling.

Dr Omane Boamah stated, however, that not employing beyond the expected ceiling does not mean government has frozen employment.

Rather, he explained, as and when jobs are available the number of people required would be employed.

Asked the effort government is making to retrieve Alfred Agbesi Woyome’s money, he said the New Patriotic Party are behind the propaganda but matters bordering on judgement debt must not be used for politics.

He advised the NPP to stay away from politicizing judgement debt since Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has both paid and compelled the current government to pay judgement debt.

Dr Omane Boamah also disclosed that per what they have done so far, an internal poll has revealed that the NDC is ahead and will win the 2016 election based on merit and not the opinion polls being conducted by some members of the public and institutions.
