The embattled businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome has described former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Mr. Martin Amidu as not only fickle but also an attention seeking individual.

This was in response to Mr. Amidu’s claim that President Mahama was plotting to block his cross-examination of Woyome on the judgement debt saga and prevent the people of Ghana from hearing the truth about the looting of the public purse:

“The conduct of the President convinces me as a senior and foundation member of the governing NDC that he would do everything in his power to ensure that the request for cross-examination fail,” Mr Amidu had said.

In a quick response to Amidu, Woyome said, the anti-corruption campaigner had exhibited a sense of “insecurity”.

He explained that Mr Amidu’s action was an attempt to tarnish the image of President John Dramani, who was not the president when the judgement debt matter broke out.

He described such an act as an attempt to get the attention of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as well as the press.

“Martin Amidu is so inconsistent…he keeps bringing up all sorts of issues. He just wants the attention of the press…why do you keep involving the president if you are not trying to seek attention from the New Patriotic Party (NPP),” he concluded.

Counsel for Mr. Woyome, lawyer Ken Anku told the court they have an application in an attempt to reverse the court ruling to have his client examined by Mr. Amidu.

Explaining his reasons for filing a stay of proceeding, Mr Woyome replied that he will not face Mr Amidu “on an illegality base as I feel but I would like Martin Amidu to tell Ghanaians what he knows.”
