President John Dramani Mahama will on Tuesday November 8 face off with flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and two others in a presidential debate, the Institute of Economic Affairs has stated.

Speaking to Umaru Sanda Amadu on Citi TV's Politicos programme, Executive Director of the IEA, Jean Mensah, said the organisation is on course to holding this year's first presidential debate on Tuesday at Tamale contrary to suggestions by many that this year's event would not come off over claims of bias against the governing National Democratic Congress.

But Jean Mensah says the IEA remains neutral adding that the organisation has received communication from the presidency indicating President Mahama's willingness to participate in this year's exercise.

President John Dramani has on two occasions challenged the NPP flagbearer to a presidential debate.

The NPP has meanwhile declined the invitation citing the NDC's earlier position that it was not ready to participate in any event organised by the Institute of Economic Affairs.

But Executive Director of the IEA insists both presidential candidates together with the candidates of the Convenion Peoples Party and the Peoples National Convention will be participating in a presidential debate at the Radash Hotel in Tamale on Tuesday, November 8.
