Ensure early completion of station - IGP told

Elubo (Western Region), 26 Jan. '99 -

The chiefs and people of Elubo have appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Peter Nanfuri to ensure the early completion of the Police Station in the town .

Nana Allah Kpanyinli Oboa Asafo the second, Chief of Elubo, made the appeal at a meeting to discuss the infrastructural development of the town preparation of a strategic plan for the town.

Nana Allah said a Police station in the town will help curb the high the crime wave in the area. Work on the Police station came to a standstill in the middle of last year for lack of funds.

Mr Richard Acquah Harrison of HSP Consultancy, said "Elubo, an important point of entry to Ghana from Cote d' Ivoire, should give people their first good impression of Ghana".

He said the strategic plan is to deal with existing urban problems and to ensure sustainable development.

The people identified their priority needs as the provision of a Police Station, education facilities, drainage, market and a TV transmission station.

Mr Thomas Kwesi, District Chief Executive for Jomoro, told the people that the assembly contributed about 30 million cedis towards the construction of a TV transmission station at Tarkwa.
