Ghana Civil Aviation Authority receives $12 million credit

Accra, Dec. 15, GNA - The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is to secure a 12 million dollar credit line from the Ghana International Bank (GIB) of London for the completion of the main arrival hall of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

Briefing the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mr Adumasa Badu, Deputy Director-General of the GCAA, in Charge of Finance and Administration, said: " When we receive this funding we are confident that the main arrival hall will be ready by the first quarter of 2004."

He said the Authority intended to install the Common User Terminal Facility, one of the latest equipment in the airline industry, and expressed the hope that it would place the KIA among the most attractive and advanced airports in the world.

Mr Badu said the GCAA was preparing letters of credit through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning for the release of the money. Rehabilitation and expansion programme at the airport began in the 1990's and is currently rated as the best in the West Africa Sub-Region.
