We are under pressure to beat Ghana – Egypt’s team manager

Egypt squad. Egypt squad.

Team manager of the Pharaohs of Egypt Ihab Leheta has revealed his side is under real pressure to beat Ghana both in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier and the 2017 AFCON.

The Pharaohs have been drawn in group D for the 2017 Afcon alongside Ghana, Uganda and Mali but before the tournament kicks on in January next year, they will lock horns with the Black Stars in Alexandria for the 2018 world Cup qualifier on November 13.

Egypt missed out on the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil after Ghana edged them out over two legs by 7-3.

The Egyptians who have failed to make an appearance at the mundial for over 25 years, are seeking to make it this time but must first go past Ghana with revenge on their minds.

Speaking to Nhyira FM, Leheta claimed there is pressure on the team from their fans to go all out to beat Ghana both in the world Cup qualifiers and at the AFCON next year to please the supporters.

“Pressure is on Egypt to beat Ghana in both the world cup qualifiers and the African Cup.” He said.

Egypt defeated Congo in Brazzaville in the first group game of the world Cup qualifiers while Ghana was held to a goalless draw by Uganda.

The Pharaohs are however eager to bear Ghana at their backyard to maintain their winning form in the qualifiers.
