Three NDC supporters confirmed dead in boat disaster

The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) ASP Ebenezer Tetteh has confirmed to ultimatefmonline.com, the death of three persons following Sunday night’s boat disaster on the White Volta.

He identifies the deceased persons as Mavis Sector Kofi 19, Samia Yusuf 19 and Fawdatu Abass whose bodies have been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue pending autopsy.

According to him, a local rescue team managed to save 4 four others who are reported to be doing well while efforts are currently underway by the team to discover more bodies from the river.

The incident occurred after the boat they were traveling on capsized with fruitless efforts by a local rescue team to save the victims

The boat was carrying the passengers across the bank of the river towards Tamale but capsized midway through the journey.

The passengers mostly NDC supporters were returning from a campaign launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Daboya-Mankarigu constituency
