Bawumia is a ‘product of thievery’ - Allotey Jacobs

The Central regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ben Allotey Jacobs has warned vice presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to be mindful of his utterances or face the wrath of the party.

According to him, the party has restrained itself from responding to his insults against President John Mahama and the NDC because of the long standing relationship the party has with his family especially his father Alhaji Mamadu Bawumia who served as chairman of the council of state under the erstwhile Rawlings administration.

Speaking at the campaign launch of the party's Cape Coast North parliamentary candidate ,Kwabena Owusu Acheampong (Kobby Acheapong ), Mr. Jacobs urged Dr Bawumia to show respect and gratitude to the NDC as it was the party that offered his father a job to be able to take care of him.

"His father is Mumuni Bawumia and he was the first Chairman of the Council of State under the 1992 constitution. His father is a leading member of our party and he had a post as the chairman but today he describes members of the NDC as thieves," he stated .

Mr. Jocobs who is affectionately called 'the educated fisherman' described Dr. Bawumia as a product of thievery as his father was part of the NDC from the beginning and benefitted from the party.

"If he describes us as thieves, then his father stole NDC funds, Ghana money to take care of him for him to reach his current status as a doctor. In fact, Bawumia is a product of thievery. It means it was money from theft which was used to take care of him," he added.

He therefore urged Dr. Bawumia to desist from the insults as it doesn't paint a good picture of him looking at the relationship his family has had with the NDC family.

"He is ungrateful. The good things we did for his father for him to be able to take care of him, he doesn't appreciate it. Rather he is desecrating us."
