The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), led by its president, Kwabena Yeboah, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Youth and Sports, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, on Tuesday September 6 in a bid to settle the feud between the Ministry and the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Speaking to Class Sports, Executive member of SWAG, Charles Osei-Asibey said the aim of the body is to see harmony between the two bodies.

“As a major stakeholder in the development and promotion of sports in Ghana, the leadership of sports writers thought it wise to engage both parties and seek…peace. We have engaged the Ghana Football Association and it was a fruitful meeting, after which we decided to meet the Minister of Youth and Sports. We have heard from both parties and so we will continue to engage them to make sure that there is peace but what we have currently done is to plead with both parties to cease fire,” he stated.

He further urged all, especially the media, to be circumspect and help push an agenda which can only bring about progress in sports development.

“We will encourage our colleagues to often look at the positives. We don’t want to put in more fire or inflame passion. So our colleagues should also calm down instead of pushing these young men to disrespect each other,” he stated.
