Middlesbrough winger Albert Adomah admits the club will have to do more to get their old and new players to blend well.

Boro, who make a return to the English Premier League this campaign after seven years in the lower division, have stepped up their preparations with the acquisition of the likes of Alvaro Negredo and Victor Valdes.

Many of the new faces were in action when the side handed Aston Villa a 3-1 defeat in a preparatory game on Saturday.

“When you sign players you have to get time in with them training and in games, which we’re doing,” Adomah told his club's website.

“For the players, it helps them getting to know their teammates and Saturday showed we’re linking up.

“Like George [Friend] and Viktor [Fischer]. Then there’s obviously Emilio [Nsue] and me who have been together for a long time now.

“There are things we need to work on, but it will work out for the best gradually.”

Middlesbrough opens their league campaign with a home clash against Stoke City on August 13.
