The People’s National Convention is considering television presenter, Paul Adom-Otchere, as the vice presidential candidate of the party in this year’s December 7 presidential election.

If successful, Mr Adom-Otchere who is the host of Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV, will partner Dr Edward Mahama who is making his fifth attempt at the country’s presidency.

Party chairman, Bernard Mornah who disclosed this to TV3 Monday said four names have so far come up for consideration as the vice presidential candidate but declined to give details on the other three persons.

He said the party’s leadership is currently considering those whose names have come up and will announce the preferred candidate on August 17.

“If you look at Paul, he’s versatile, he appears to know the subjects that he treats very well; whether they are in economics, they’re in security, they’re in any field. He has handled a considerable topics in this country and has shown enough depth in those areas,” Mr Mornah said.

Touching on the requirements the party’s leadership is considering, he said beyond the constitutional requirement, “we are looking at somebody who can complement the works and the energy of the presidential candidate. Somebody who has the drive; somebody who will be able to mobilise not only logistics but also mobilise persons”.

Meanwhile, the Progressive People’s Party flagbearer, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, says he will announce his running mate on August 4 “We have taken time in going through a lot to talk to men, women of different educational background, of different political background, different professional and business backgrounds to be able to arrive at a person I am going to introduce to the nation,” he said
