You’ll suffer if you vote for Mahama or Akufo-Addo – Nduom to fishermen

Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom

Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has warned fishermen that they face dire consequences if they cast their ballots for President John Mahama or Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the December polls, given that both do not hail from coastal areas to appreciate the problems confronting such fisher folk.

Speaking to fishermen at Bortianor in the Greater Accra Region, the presidential nominee of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) said Mr Mahama and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate are natives of landlocked regions and do not understand the problems facing fishermen.

“Nana Akufo- Addo is from Kyebi, so, maybe, he doesn’t know what the problem here is, so he will come here and give you some promises, promises he knows he can’t fulfil. And John Mahama, he is from the north. Certain things if he goes and talks about them in the north, I will understand, but he [knows] nothing to do about the sea and about the fish that we need so that our people don’t go hungry,” he stated.

“I will give you an example from my own hometown, Elmina. They have come from Accra to Elmina to build a fish processing plant and he, John Mahama, he has gone there to commission the plant, which they went to India to get a loan to build. What is the use of a fish processing plant when there is no fish? They don’t understand this country, they don’t understand business, they don’t understand what we need, so don’t let those people come and fool you.

They think they come and say some things and give you a few things, then you go and vote for them. If you go and vote for those people, you will suffer.

“Even premix fuel they are doing politics with it. Premix is like any fuel. If I go to any petrol station today, I will get diesel to buy, but when it comes to premix because it is for fishermen, they think we are foolish people so that one, they have to do some politics.

You have to go and see somebody before you buy premix. Why? Are we foolish people by the sea, it is time for change and the only political party that understands what you need is the Progressive People’s Party.”
