I chose Rangers over Leicester - Joe Dodoo admits

Rangers new boy, Joe Dodoo admits he could have stayed with Premier League Champions Leicester City but instead chose to make the move to Ibrox.

The 21-year-old penned a four-year deal at Rangers, and the lure of first-team football in a progressive team was too much to turn down.

Dodoo played four games for Leicester last season, netting a hat-trick on his debut before moving on loan to Bury.

Speaking exclusively to RangersTV he said: “Of course I had other options, but sometimes you have to make a decision on what club is best for you and I felt like the manager was the right one for me.

“I was tempted to stay at Leicester, and that was a possibility, but you have to make the right decision based on what is going on and I felt this was the right place for me to come right now.

“It felt like the right place to prove and the manager will nurture me and make me the player I want to be.

“The football is right; they play good football and that suits me.

“That is how I play; it’s nice because they like to pass the ball and work out from the back and for me that is good.

“That creates a lot of chances and as a striker, I am going to get a lot of chances in the game.

“It is a great club with a lot of old values about it and great football. I have always watched the way they play and the way they are evolving now which is great. “There is a new manager, they are back amongst the bit time and are looking to strive for it.”

For Dodoo, it was the man at the helm that really made his decision to join the Gers final, Mark Warburton’s record of producing young talent was important to the attacker.

Prior to his deal, Dodoo had been on trial for a week, working with the manager and that made him sure the move was right.

He said: “The manager said that they have a good philosophy and are looking to move forward, that is the most important thing.

“He is looking to get the club high again, and he needs to the players to come and the way he plays suits me.

“He is ready to develop young players as well which is really good for me to come here.

“From what I have seen so far since I have been here it is very promising, and I can’t wait to be part of it.

“When I spoke to the manager, he told me his intentions and for me turning 21 it is a great club to come to, do the job and make everybody happy.

“It is the right time because I need to be playing regular football, and Rangers is a good place for me to come to do that.”
