Mahama confirms Atta-Boateng as NITA boss

The president, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has in accordance with the advice of the Governing board of National Information Technology Agency, given in consultation with the Public Service Commission, authorized the confirmation of the appointment of Mr. George Atta-Boateng as Director-General of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA).

Mr. George Atta-Boateng, holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Computer Science and Diploma in Financial Economics from Fordham University, New York, USA in December, 2008. Prior to this, he had obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the same University in 2007.

Mr. Atta-Boateng is an Information Technology Specialist with eleven (11) years working experience in areas ranging from Data Communications and Networks, Computer Networks, Cellular System TV and Radio Systems, Website Design, Database Development among others.

He has proven record of managing large scale projects within time budget and constraints.

He is an expert in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policy and Strategy and Project Management particularly in areas relevant to developing nations.

He has in-depth knowledge in e-readiness for about eight (8) developing nations around the world.

These include in-depth reviews of the ICT sector including Market Structure, Universal Service and Access, Telecommunications Infrastructure, use of ICT in Health, Business, Government and Education.

His experience cuts across the public and private sectors both within the country and internationally. He has attended several relevant workshops, seminars and conferences both locally and internationally.

Mr. George Atta-Boateng has since his appointment as the Ag. Director-General been extensively involved in the restructuring of the operations of NITA and already yielding positive results.
