Students union holds forum on education

The Jema Students Union in the Brong Ahafo Region, has stressed the importance of education in the community at a forum to sensitise the people on the need to educate their children Addressing the forum on the theme: ''The child's education, a responsibility of all, Mr Gyan Kesse, patron of the union, appealed to parents not to waste their resources on social activities at the expense of their children's education. Mr Kesse, a senior accountant at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, urged parents to show concern for the education of their wards to enable them to become responsible citizens. He urged students to refrain from pre-marital sex, alcohol and smoking and concentrate on their studies in order to make the best use of the present educational opportunities offered by the state. The Assemblyman for Jema East electoral area, Mrs Margaret Addae, advised women to support all efforts aimed at ensuring a better education for children, particularly females. The union chairman, Mr Emmanuel Amoako Agyekum, spoke of plans to organise extra classes for the junior secondary school (JSS) students in the area during vacations.
