The Komenda Sugar Factory in the Central Region is still in operation processing tonnes of sugar cane and not shut down.

This is contrary to misleading public discourse on the factory since its inauguration by President Mahama.

Currently, the factory has processed 800 tonnes of sugarcane while more than one thousand tonnes are ready for processing.

In an interview with Radio Ghana, the Public Relations Officer of the Ramji Daiwala Engineers, sub-contractors of the factory, said Management of the KomendaFactory are focused on ensuring that the new factory works up to expectations.
