Expo 2003 Will Enhance Investments In Ghana - Asantehene

The Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu 11 has noted that Ghana Expo 2003 will surely enhance investment endeavours in Ghana and should therefore be supported by all. He observed that the venture is a very laudable one which when sustained would help see Ghana though its struggle for foreign investment..

The King of the Ashanti noted that his interest is to help in ensuring a holistic development of Ghana and would therefore assist and support individuals and organisation who promote pragmatic programmes towards the socio-economic development of the country.

He said that is why his momentous institution has taken upon itself the task of developing educational and other infrastructure as well as providing the enabling environment, for the rather, unfortunate children in the country to be educated.

Otumfour Osei Tutu was interacting with the organisers of the Ghana Expo 2003 on his arrival in London for the event. Otumfour was accompanied on his trip by a number of staff and chiefs from the Manhyia palace in Kumasi, including the Asamponghene, Nana Asampong Boakye, Atututuehene, Nana Kwabena Abebrese, Kokosohene, Oheneba Kwabene Poku, Hiahene, Nana Agyemang Atweneboana, Apagyahene, Nana Tweretwie Prempeh and others.

The Director General of EXPO Africa Ltd., Mr. Kwame Owusu Afriyie led the delegation. The Hwidiemhene, Osuodumgya and the Nkoranzahene Agyekum Kodum and some other paramount chiefs owing allegiance to the Golden Stool will also arrive later to participate in the event.

The King will be in London for two weeks and will perform the opening ceremony of the event on Thursday 16th October together with the President of the Republic of Ghana, Mr J.A. Kufour and other high raking government officials from Ghana and UK.

Otumfour Osei Tutu would also host a royal dinner dance on Saturday, 18th October. The climax of Ghana Expo 2003 will be a the grand durbar at which the Asantehene would sit in state to receive homage from people from all walks of live.

He commended the organisers of Ghana Expo 2003 for their foresight, dedication, selflessness and patriotism adding that such are people the nation needs to move forward. Otumfour Osei Tutu observed that such a laudable venture would not only benefit the any few individuals but rather a the whole nation by way of job creation and employment..

He declared “My interest is in people who would plan and move Ghana forward”.

He acknowledged that although such benefits may not be immediately noticed, it is a good course towards building a sound economic base for the future. He noted this obviously calls for unity and understanding from all the citizenry.

The Director of Ghana Expo 2003, Mr. Kwabena Afriyie Asamoah, the event which will be an annual event has received tremendous response not only from the Ghanaian and African community but almost around the world. He announced that the proceeds from the dinner dance would be donated to the Otumfour Education fund while the proceeds from the pre-exhibition dance to be held on the Saturday the 11th of October would also be donated to the five-pound-no-balance fund for the Ghana Police Service.
